Only 10 minutes walk to the beach

Located just 10 kms north of Westport on the Karamea-Heaphy track Highway 67 ,we are  ideally situated for travellers to explore the Northern Buller. Originally built in 1874 the Pines has been the home of a cold beer and a social gathering place for generations of “Black Gold” miners. A roaring fire in the winter and shady decks and Garden bar in summer offer the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. The Banbury Restaurant, serving hearty home-style food.

As a stopover or as a base for day trips,(Charming Creek Walkway, The Oparara Arches, Limestone Caves, Jet Boating, Rafting the Nile, Fishing;so much to do!) we offer a unique West Coast experience.  Come chat with the locals or stay for a day or two on our park-over property. We are pet friendly; Our dog Bonnie and cats Jake & Elwood roam the grounds and often hog the fire in winter. For an hour or a week, or two, we hope you’ll come visit us at the historic Pines Tavern.

Cheers Tania
